BERSIH 2.0: Images of the Poor for the Government and Police - Marina

Failure to properly address the 2.0 BERSIH assembly held on July 9 and give a bad image to the Malaysian government at the international level, said Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir.
Marina, the eldest son of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that, unlike the government, "the world" do not have a bad impression on the people who joined the gathering as they struggle to uphold their rights - to claim the election free and fair.

"There are people who claim that the world is giving a bad impression of Malaysia for foreign media (and media) to report only about the shooting tear gas and water cannon," said Marina, in his blog on 10 July. "I think the confusion between the government and the people.
"Yes, the world has a bad impression on the government for failing to address properly the whole issue. They have different perceptions of the people who fought for their rights."
Marina, a social activist is one of thousands of people in the cities of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, faced with the riot police, defending the supporters of Net by saying that they assemble peacefully and not harm anyone or commit any violence.
"Whatever he thinks about the issues championed by the BERSIH, we all should be proud of the people who do not behave like savages, damage property and injure one another, as predicted.
"Well, there are those who were injured and one dead, but it is not caused by the rally participants. Restaurants, restaurants and shops around the area a hit because people were thirsty and hungry," he added.
Marina said the Bersih rally last Saturday proved that Malaysians, regardless of race, age and religion can come together for one purpose.
