Aug 16: PAS secretary general Mustafa Ali has today revealed a shocking new discovery in the saga surrounding the series of exposes on electoral fraud, this time of centres which issue MyKads to foreigners before they are immediately registered as voters.
Mustafa however refused to hand over the evidences to the Election Commission’s controversial deputy chairman Wan Ahmad Wan Omar, saying he would only deal with its chairman.
"I shall report the matter to the Election Commission, but I will hand over the evidence only to the chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof,” he told a press conference at PAS headquarters.
“I will not hand it over to the deputy chairman. I don't trust him. Abdul Aziz, I can still trust a little bit," he was quoted as saying by online portal Malaysiakini.
According to Mustafa, PAS has identified the centres located in Cherating, Pahang, besides the ealier discovered centres in Salak Tinggi and Paya Jaras in Selangor.
The centre in Cherating, he said, acts as a holding centre as well as to coach foreigners who were then given Malaysian identity cards.
“The other purpose is to process locals, who are then transferred to other voting districts,” he said.
Earlier, on the recent controversy surrounding the presence of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department at the Damansara Utama Methodist Centre, Mustafa charged that UMNO had a hand in the incident.
“I must reveal such information as there has been much speculation about the raid. Normally, the Selangor Menteri Besar, the state exco and JAIS director will be responsible for the department’s actions but all three wereonly informed after the raid was conducted,” he was quoted as saying in The Star.
Mustafa also claimed that he was informed that JAIS deliberately delayed action against those behind the alleged propagation of Christianity to Muslims in order to turn it into a political issue.
“The aim is to destabilise the Selangor government and disunity the Pakatan Rakyat component parties,” he said, and added that PAS leaders and members should not allow themselves to be trapped by UMNO in the issue.
The much awaited meeting between PAS leaders and DUMC officials was postponed today, following the latter’s request.
