KOTA KINABALU, July 13 - About half a million illegal immigrants (starch) in Sabahis expected to enroll during an amnesty carried out the state from July 18 to August 1.
State Secretary, Datuk Sukarti Wakiman said, this amount includes his wife and their children.
"We estimate about 500,000 illegal immigrants will come forward to enroll in the program.
"This task will be conducted at nine locations throughout the state," he told reporters here today.
Locations are the Public Hall in Penampang siga, Tun Mustapha Public Hall in Kudat,Ranau Public Hall, Public Hall Sibuga in Sandakan, Sipitang Public Hall, Public HallSri Tawau Tawau, Public Hall Sri Indah in Semporna , Kenilworth Public Hall andPublic Hall in Lahad Datu Perdana.
He said the amnesty in Sabah implemented based on the principle 5P - registration, forgiveness, monitoring, enforcement and deportation.
"Managing the location mentioned above will be held from 8 am to 5 pm onweekdays and from 8 am to 1 pm on weekends, while the registration form can be obtained free from the cash register," he said.
He urged employers not to register their foreign workers to do so through the program.
